Super Volunteer Hilary Cairns
Hilary Cairns has been a competitive runner for 20 years and a triathlete for 6 years. She has three kids ages 10, 8, and 5, and works as an attorney in DC specializing in child abuse and neglect cases. Even with this busy schedule Hilary found time to volunteer each week with ACHIEVE DC and share some of her expertise on triathlon. Hilary got involved with ACHIEVE in 2007 after taking her kids to the race at the end of ACHIEVE's first season. She was inspired watching the young athletes complete their first race and she knew that she wanted to be involved with the program the following summer. Hilary loves working with the kids and seeing their proud exhaustion after finishing a workout or accomplishing a new feat--like learning to ride a bike or making it all the way across the pool without stopping--she appreciates the opportunity to pass on her love of triathlon to eager and talented young people.
