Demetrius Denson received an ACHIEVE All Star Award

At the 2011 ACHIEVE Benefit, Demetrius Denson received an ACHIEVE All Star Award. Demetrius is the DPR facility director for ACHEIVE Benning and for the past three years has gone above and beyond in his support for the program. He is the main reason that athlete outreach and recruitment, as well as camp logisitics are so successful at Benning Park Recreation Center. He is pictured at the Benefit with his award and Molly Quinn, Executive Director.

Guest Coach Program

In 2011, ACHIEVE partnered with a number of community organizations to enhance the Guest Coach Program.  ACHIEVE is planning to continue and improve these partnerships in 2012, as well as support ACHIEVE's Host City Camps in developing their own Guest Coach Program. The 2011 DC Guest Coach Parterns brought the ACHIEVE athletes workshops such as:

Why ACHIEVE is important to me

Wilson joined for his first summer with ACHIEVE in 2010 and was such a talented athlete that he came in first overal male athlete for the ACHIEVE Kids Triathlon at the end of his six-weeks of training.  He writes:

“ACHIEVE helped me to build my confidence, develop discipline and endurance.    When I started the triathlon camp, swimming was the area that I needed to improve in the most.  I really needed to work on my form and my endurance.  Coach Derek, encouraged me to push pass my limits. I also have a better understanding about the different food groups and how we have to have a balanced diet.  Overall, I believe ACHIEVE has taught me to be more focused and to be more determined to achieve my goals.”
